Description+
Look closely at the border and you find a row of arches, the same curve that crowns a doorway or a temple gate, repeated in gold along the edge. Mehrab is the word for that arch, the niche that frames a space and pulls the eye through it. On this set the mehrab runs in woven gold across a rani-pink band, the temple motif the Kanchi looms of Tamil Nadu have carried for generations. The cloth itself is Kanchi cotton, a crisp, breathable handloom that wears cool through a long afternoon and falls clean from the shoulder. The black body asks for nothing; the arched gold border, repeated at the sheer cuffs, is the whole point. Wear it to a daytime function or a temple morning, where the gold can do its quiet catching of the light. The kind of detail you only read fully up close.

"If it isn't in the fabric, it isn't worth the price."
Every kurta set lists its GSM, the weight of the fabric per square metre. Higher isn't always better; it depends on the season and the silhouette.
