Our Story

Cloth has always been close.

In our home, fabric was never merely fabric. Our mother and her sisters spent their years over saris, setting the fine lace and patti along each edge, the kind of finishing you feel before you ever see it. Our father came up through Surat's textile trade, as the men of the family had before him. Drape, weave, and finish were simply the vocabulary of the house, and we learned to judge a cloth the way others learn to read.

Morpaankh is where that inheritance becomes a label. The discernment our family has always brought to fabric, we now bring to the pieces that carry our name: cotton kurta sets, co-ord sets, and festive wear for women, each chosen for honest cloth, a fit that answers to a real body, and a finish we would be glad to wear ourselves.

We began in answer to a quiet frustration: an ethnic-wear market grown fluent in promising one thing and delivering another, where ordinary cloth hides behind handsome prices and photographs that flatter what never arrives. We believed it could be done plainly and well, and that people deserved nothing less.

So our intention is a simple one: Indian ethnic wear you can trust, delivered anywhere in India. What you see in the photographs is what reaches your door. The fabric is exactly what we name it. The fit is cut for a body, not a mannequin. Nothing is oversold, and nothing is left to chance.

We are building slowly, and on purpose. Today, every piece is chosen by us and checked before it earns our name. In time, we will design our own, drawing on the embroidery and detailing our family knows best, and bring more of the making home. We would sooner grow quietly and keep our word than grow quickly and break it.
