Jamun

There's a fruit that turns deep purple at the peak of summer, staining your fingers and your tongue, and the whole season takes its name. Jamun is that colour, and this set wears it: a violet that goes almost black where the cloth folds. The fabric is Vichitra, a smooth art silk with a quiet sheen, light enough to fall in soft pleats from the yoke and move when you do. Across the chest, silver and gold zari is worked into a fine floral spread with resham thread filling the petals, and a scalloped band of the same runs along the dupatta's edge. Keep it for the evening function where you want depth instead of glitter. The colour does the work.
